EXPERTISE, EXPERIENCE
& INTEGRITY

Medler, Karsten & Bridges, LLC, is a Clayton-based, general-practice law firm providing seasoned legal counsel and outstanding representation to individuals, families and businesses throughout the St. Louis metropolitan area, and adjacent counties of St. Charles, Jefferson, Franklin and Lincoln. Our firm boasts an AV Rating from Martindale-Hubbell, which recognizes lawyers with very high to preeminent legal abilities. This rating – established by attorneys, for attorneys -- reflects our firm’s expertise, experience and integrity.

Our superior team of attorneys possesses specialized knowledge in myriad areas of law, including family/domestic law; criminal/DWI/traffic law; estate planning and probate administration; personal injury; medical malpractice; and complicated, jurisdictional matters, among others. We personally meet with all clients, advise them of their options, and formulate effective action plans to protect their interests. In this way, we not only achieve remarkable results, but also offer our clients the peace of mind of knowing their cases are in the most capable hands.

OUR ATTORNEYS

From 2004 until 2018, the firm was known as Medler & Roither, LLC. However, we are very proud to announce that in February 2018, former founding Partner, David A. Roither, was appointed by the Missouri Governor as an Associate Circuit Judge to the 22nd Judicial Circuit of the State of Missouri. With David Roither’s appointment to the judiciary, the firm was reorganized as
Medler, Karsten & Bridges, LLC.

JEFFREY P. MEDLER, PARTNER
jmedler@mkblawoffice.com

The cornerstone member of the firm, Jeffrey P. Medler has represented clients in countless cases related to civil and commercial litigation, personal injury, and domestic litigation (including dissolution of marriage, paternity, child custody and support, and orders of protection) throughout the region. Moreover, Jeffrey has been appointed as a Guardian ad Litem by every St. Louis County Family Court judge to represent the best interests of children in domestic, custody, and abuse cases. He has also increased his mediation practice, being appointed by judges, or selected by attorneys and unrepresented individuals, seeking to reduce litigation costs by resolving disputes quickly and amicably.

In 2004, Jeffrey was named Outstanding Young Lawyer of the Year by the St. Louis County Bar Association and boasts an AV Rating from Martindale-Hubbell, which identifies lawyers with very high to preeminent legal ability – a true reflection of his expertise, experience, integrity and overall professional excellence.

This commitment to integrity is perhaps best reflected, however, in his community service activities outside of the firm, where he currently sits on the Board of Legal Support Services Group, Inc., a non-profit organization providing legal support for low-income individuals, families and veterans. He volunteers for The Kaufman Fund, providing free legal services for veterans and their families. He has sat as a Board Member for Catholic Legal Assistance Ministry, providing legal services for indigent individuals of all religious denominations in many areas of law. He volunteered at Legal Services of Eastern Missouri, which provides free legal help for more than one million low-income individuals and families with civil issues impacting housing, family law, public benefits, consumer fraud, healthcare, children’s well-being, special education and relief from domestic violence. He has been the President of the School Advisory Board for his children’s elementary school; coached multiple elementary teams in soccer, baseball, softball, and basketball; and emceed numerous auctions and school events.

Jeffrey holds a B.A. from Boston College, and a J.D. from the St. Louis University School of Law. He is a certified Guardian ad Litem, and a member of the Missouri Bar, the Illinois Bar, the Bar of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri, the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis, the St. Louis County Bar Association, and the American Bar Association.

THOMAS J. KARSTEN, PARTNER
tkarsten@mkblawoffice.com

After many years of dedicating himself to international transactional law with the Mergers & Acquisitions practice group of the Chicago-based, multinational firm of Baker & McKenzie, in 2005, Thomas joined our former firm of Medler & Roither, LLC. Today, as Partner, Thomas’ practice is focused primarily on estate planning (Wills, Trusts, Powers of Attorney), probate matters (probate administration, guardianships, and conservatorships), and family law, with a special concentration on many unusually complicated areas of family law, such as Qualified Domestic Relations Orders (QDRO’s) in post-dissolution pension division; Prenuptial and Postnuptial Agreements; jurisdictional issues; and conflicts of law.

Thomas holds a B.A. in Latin America Studies and Art/Art History from Rice University, and a J.D. from the St. Louis University School of Law. He lived in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, for more than a decade and has studied various languages, including Portuguese, Spanish, French and Latin (Silver Medalist Winner of the National Latin Exam, sponsored by the American Classical League). He is a member of the Missouri Bar, the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis, and the St. Louis County Bar Association.

JOHN (JACK) T. BRIDGES, PARTNER
jbridges@mkblawoffice.com

John T. Bridges is involved in all major areas of practice, particularly family law (including dissolution of marriage, paternity, child support and orders of protection), general civil litigation and criminal defense. John joined the firm of Medler & Roither, LLC, upon graduating law school and has risen to Partner since that time. He is increasingly representing children as a Guardian ad Litem in all areas of domestic relations and family law. John has been recognized as a “Missouri-Kansas Super Lawyers Rising Star” by the Missouri/Kansas Super Lawyers in the years 2015-2019. He also volunteers and provides pro bono services for The Kaufman Fund providing legal support for local veterans and their families.

John holds a B.A in Political Science from St. Louis University, and a J.D. from the Saint Louis University School of Law. He is a certified Guardian ad Litem, and a member of the Missouri Bar, the Illinois Bar, the Bar of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri, the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis, the St. Louis County Bar Association, and the St. Charles County Bar Association. John is married with two children and resides in Saint Louis County.
